Lions' softball program adds another first-year player to fall squad

Newport Central Catholic High School student-athlete Kristen Schreiber will attend Mount St. Joseph and play softball for the Lions, Mount Head Coach Beth Goderwis announced.

As a junior Schreiber compiled a .395 batting average and .651 slugging percentage for her high school team, and leads or is among her school’s leaders in many career offensive categories. She has achieved many post-season honors, including: Northern Kentucky Coaches Association Honorable Mention 2012; 36th District Most Valuable Player 2013; Newport Central Catholic Team Most Valuable Player 2012-2014; Northern Kentucky Coaches Association First Team 2013-2014; NKAC Honorable Mention 2012; NKAC Second Team 2013; NKAC First Team 2014; Northern Kentucky Enquirer Top 20 player 2014-2015; Northern Kentucky Enquirer Honorable Mention 2012; Northern Kentucky Enquirer Second Team 2013; and Northern Kentucky Enquirer First Team 2014.

In addition, Schreiber has been a Vice President on the National Honor Society, has held a high GPA, is on the Academic Honor Roll, and has taken AP and Honor classes while at Newport Central Catholic.

Kristen, the daughter of Connie and Chris Schreiber, is planning of majoring in Occupational Therapy at the Mount.
