Lions split double header at Franklin

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

LOCATION: Franklin, IN

THE BASICS
The Lions split a conference double header on the road at Franklin College, moving to (8-7-1) on the year.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Game 1

The first game of the double header would see the teams play to a 2-2 draw through seven innings, the Lions though broke through in the top of the 8th inning to score twice and put the game away.

Paige Kiesewetter pitched a complete game for the Lions going all 8 innings and getting her third win of the season. She scattered 9 Grizzly hits over the 8 innings only allowing 2 runs while striking out 3.

Kiesewetter and Danielle Nichelson carried the the offense going a combined 4-8 driving in 3 of the Lions 4 runs in the game.

Game 2

The second game was not as kind to the Lions as Nichelson took the mound and the results were not what she would have hoped for. Only able to get through 1 inning she surrendered 6 earned runs on 5 hits and three walks.

Brianna Kauf relieved her and the results were more of the same, as over her 2 innings of work she gave up 6 hits and 4 earned runs.

Offensively in the game the Lions were paced by leadoff hitter Morgan Kain who went 2 for 3 with 2 stolen bases.

UP NEXT
The Lions will travel to Berea College on Tuesday for a double header.
