Mount St. Joseph softball splits double dip against Manchester

THE BASICS:
The Lions (10-12-1, 2-4 HCAC) scored three times in the 7th inning of game one, but it wouldn't be enough as Manchester (14-8, 3-3 HCAC) held on for the 5-3 win. In game two the Lions scored a run in the first and second inning and added two more in the 3rd inning. MSJ held Manchester scoreless in the the final four innings to preserve the win.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Brandy Bunch drilled a one-out single to score two runs in the seventh inning, but the Lions could not find any more offense as a routine groundout ended the first game.

Run-scoring singles by Brianna Kauf and Sierra Sydnor in the third inning proved to be the difference in the 4-2 win.

STANDOUTS
Dannielle Nichelson faced all 31 Manchester batters in the win. Bunch had two RBI in game one. 

UP NEXT
The Lions continue conference play at Transylvania University on Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.
