Lions drop both games at Transylvania

THE BASICS:
The Lions (10-14-1, 2-6 HCAC) were unable to get over the hump against the Pioneers,  both games were lost by a total of 2 runs.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Lions entered the top of the seventh against Transylvania in game one trailing by 4, and after scoring 3 runs, fell one hit short as Sierra Sydnor struck out with the tying run on third base to end the game. 

The second game would turn out the same for the Lions, but they had every opportunity to win the game. Trailing 3-0 in the top of the 5th the Lions were able to score 6 times over the next two innings to take a 3 run lead into the bottom of the 7th inning. On the strength of 2 hits, 3 walks, and 3 errors in the bottom of the 7th inning the Pioneers were able to score the 3 runs needed to defeat the Lions in walk-off fashion.

STANDOUTS
Paige Kiesewetter went 3 for 4 in game 2, and pitched 5.2 innings for the Lions. In game one the combo of Morgan Kain and Morgan Hoehn at the top of the lineup produced to the tune of an 8 for 8 performance with 5 runs scored.

UP NEXT
The Lions travel to Centre College, Wednesday the 13th to play a double-header, the games are scheduled to start at 5:00 and 7:00 pm
