Box Score 2 LOCATION: Ada, OH (ONU Softball Field)
THE BASICS:
After a sweep on Saturday on the road against conference foe Bluffton, the Lions traveled to Ada, OH to take on Ohio Northern. The Lions were able to come away with a split finishing the weekend with a 3-1 record.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Game 1
In game one the Lions sent Bri Kauf to the mound to start game one, and it was a rough start for her. In 3 innings of work Kauf surrendered 9 hits and allowed 7 runs, 5 earned in the loss.
Offensively the Lions were led by the middle third of the lineup, as Paige Kiesewetter, Brandy Bunch and Katie Tarter combined to go 6 for 10 in the game, with 2 RBI.
The Lions threatened late in the game as they scored 1 in the top of the 7th, and had the tying run in the on deck circle as the game ended, they were unable to come all the way back and fell 8-6
Game 2
The Lions got the second complete game in as many days from Danielle Nichelson, as she was able to work around 17 baserunners and only allow 5 runs (4 earned).
The Lions got on the board first as a Morgan Kain walk and stolen base, allowed her to score on a bunt single by Morgan Hoehn coupled with an error by the Polar Bears. Ohio Northern was able to tie the game in 3rd, but the Lions scored 2 runs in the 4th and 5th innings to help seal the 6-5 victory.
The Lions were led offensively by Katie Tarter who went 2 for 3 with 2 RBI, a run scored and a walk. Hoehn also had a solid day at the plate going 3 for 4 with an RBI, and a run scored.

The Lions travel to Defiance for a conference double-header, on Saturday, April 23rd first pitch is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
