Mount St. Joseph splits double-header with Adrian College

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

LOCATION: Cincinnati, OH (Kinder-Morgan Sports Complex)

THE BASICS:
The Lions hosted Adrian College for a non-conference double-header, the Lions would split on the field, but win off the field. The Lions were playing for a cause, supporting the Lucky Fin Foundation. A very special young man named Daunte Lorenz threw out the ceremonial first pitch. Daunte was born with an issue that limited the development of his left hand. All proceeds from the game were donated to the Lucky Fin Foundation in his name!

HOW IT HAPPENED:

Game 1

In game one the Lions sent Briana Kauf to the hill and she would not disappoint throwing a complete game 4 hit shutout.

Claire Wehby was an absolute rock for the Lions defensively as she was perfect in 10 defensive opportunities in the game, Wehby also added a hit for the Lions.

Morgan Kain and Danielle Nichelson led the way offensively, as both had 2 hits for the Lions, Nichelson added 3 RBI on a towering homer in the 3rd inning.

This all added up to the Lions securing a 4-0 victory.

Game 2

In game 2 the offenses dominated, as the teams combined for 15 runs on 20 hits. The Lions though came up on the short end of that in large part due to their 4 errors. Nichelson surrendered 6 runs but only 1 was earned in her 6 innings of work.

Offensively the Lions were again led by Kain and Nichelson, along with Katie Tarter and Sierra Sydnor each of whom had 2 hits in the game. Each of them added an RBI save Tarter, and Kain was able to get her 34th stolen base of the season.

Although this was offense was not enough as the Lions fell 8-7, having the tying run called out on a play at the plate to end the game.

UP NEXT

The Lions play host the Hanover on Friday, with the games scheduled to begin at 3:30. This is a change as the games were originally supposed to be played Tuesday but due to whether concerns have been moved.
