Box Score 4 The Lions would look to start hot against conference rival Manchester on Saturday. They would travel to Indiana for their first conference games of the season and they came back with two victories.
GAME ONE
The Lions would send Brianna Kauf (Orrville, OH / Orrville) to the circle to start game one against Manchester. She would turn in a solid start for Mount St. Joseph, working 4 innings and giving up 2 runs with 1 of those being earned. She would be relieved by Paige Kiesewetter (Piqua, OH / Miami East) who would earn the win by working the final 3 innings, giving up no runs.
Mount St. Joseph struggled on offense in game one, putting up just three runs on the Spartans. They would need a late comeback in order to take game one. Manchester would enter the sixth inning up 2-1 until Mount St. Joseph would battle back and score two runs in the top of the sixth. Those would be the last two runs of the game for either side and the Lions would take game one by a score of 3-2.
GAME TWO
Danielle Nichelson (Glencoe, KY / Gallantin) would be called on to try to earn the sweep against Manchester in game two. She would pitch the entire game, going 5 innings, allowing only 5 hits and 1 run, although it was an unearned run.
The offense would be a force in game two and they started early, scoring twice in the first inning. The offense would take it to another level in the fourth inning, when they scored nine runs and effectively put the game out of reach. They would add three more runs in their half of the fifth inning and that would be the final frame played, as Mount St. Joseph would win by the score of 15-1.
LIONS AT THE PEAK
