Defiance, Ohio- The Lions traveled to Defiance Ohio for the final game of the 2021 regular season. This was coming off of an impressive offensive performance by the Mount last night, when they scored 92 against Defiance. Today the Lions came away with a 75-68 road victory, giving them a season sweep against the Yellow Jackets.
The Lions opened the game on fire, scoring 24 1st Quarter points. The scoring output was aided by Maddie Haberthy who scored 12 out of the Lions 24 and did so by going a perfect 4-4 from behind the 3-point line. In the 2nd the Lions offense slowed down a bit, scoring 14 total. Chloe Jansen was able to notch the scoring column for the Lions in the 2nd, adding 6 points, on 2-2 shooting from deep. Haberthy scored the 8 other Lions points in the 2nd. The Lions entered the half leading the Yellow Jackets by a score of 38-32.
Going into the 2nd Half of play the Lions lost a bit of their lead, as Defiance got hot offensively outscoring the Mount 20-15. Going into the final Quarter of play the Lions held a 53-52 lead. However in the 4th the Lions got hot again, shooting an impressive 57% from behind the arc. The duo of Haberthy and Jansen were perfect from behind the arc once again allowing the Lions to score 22 points.
For the evening the Lions had several standout performances. Haberthy led the Lions in scoring another Career high of 38 points. Jansen built off of a great last game, scoring 18 points off of 4-5 shooting from deep while also dishing out 6 assists and pulling down 6 rebounds. Haley Scott added a much needed spark off of the bench for the Lions as scored 8 with an impressive 66% shooting from 3.
