CINCINNATI, OHIO -- The Mount St. Joseph University women's volleyball team bounced back after a disappointing showing vs. Earlham on Saturday, by sweeping Bluffton in two matches on Tuesday night. They did so in dominant fashion winning both matches in straight sets. Moving their overall record to 5-3 on the year and their Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference record to 3-1.
RESULTS
- The Mount won the first match by scores of 25-21, 25-21, 25-22, which is the contest that counts for the HCAC standings.
- They followed that up with a second sweep winning 25-17, 25-22, 26-24
NOTABLES
- Freshman Addie Conley was nearly flawless for the Lions on Tuesday, registering 17 total kills across the two matches, while not committing a single error. She hit .429 in match one and .583 in match two.
- Sophomore Brooke Aselage led the team in match one with 12 kills an followed that up with an 8 kill effort in match two. She was also outstanding from the service line, registering six aces in the matches.
- Freshman Emily Abshire continues to grow this season for the Lions and had what was likely her best performance of the season, with 14 total kills and a .571 hitting percentage in match two.
- Another Freshman Grace Young, also continues to be a force for the Lions offense with 16 total kills and a .615 hitting percentage in match two.
- The setters also had good matches for coach Spinney and the Lions with sophomore Sam Buschur registering 36 assists in the first match, and the freshman tandem of Carly Caldwell and Megan Holbrock combining for 39 in match number two.
