ADA, Ohio – On Saturday, January 29
th the Mount St. Joseph University Track and Field team traveled to Ada, Ohio to take part in the Joe Banks Invitational at Ohio Northern University. Overall, several Lions had a terrific meet, with the men's team finishing 5th overall, and the women's 6th.
On the men's side, Junior
Justin Dreyling (Cincinnati, Ohio/ Reading), had an outstanding day as he was named the champion of the men's Long Jump posting a new Mount St. Joseph indoor record of 6.88m! Freshman Kelvin Nkansah (Cincinnati, Ohio/ Lakota West), also had a notable performance in Long Jump notching 6.35m, finishing 2nd overall and scoring eight points. Junior
Will Cissell (Cincinnati, Ohio/ Turpin), performed well in High Jump, achieving a 1.70m jump, finishing 3rd overall, while scoring six points. Finally, Jonathan Hayes notched a throw of 11.12m in the Weight Throw, finishing 8th overall and gaining a point for the Lions.
Glancing at the women's team, Sophomore
Kayla Hess (Cincinnati, Ohio/ Seton), ran an impressive 1.32.77 in the 500m, finishing fifth overall, while netting five points. Senior
Emily Salmons (Harrison, Ohio/ Harrison), finished right behind her with a time of 1.44.59, finishing seventh overall. Freshman
Hannah Keith (Cincinnati, Ohio/ Anderson), had another monumental impact for the girls, as she finished fifth overall in the 200m dash with a time of 28.39, and ninth in the 60m Dash with a time of 8.46.
