CINCINNATI, Ohio - On Friday, October 22nd your Mount St. Joseph University Lions welcomed the Yellow Jackets of Defiance to the Harrington Center for a HCAC matchup. The Lions entered the match tied for the HCAC lead with Transylvania while Defiance entered seeking their first HCAC win of the season. The Lions did not disappoint cruising past the Yellow Jackets in straight sets winning, 25-12, 25-9, and 25-20.

In the first set, the Lions were dominant. The Lions went on a 7-0 run to build a commanding 21-11 lead. Kills from
Brooke Aselage,
Morgan Whitaker and
Grace Young led the Lions offensive attack. After giving up just a point the Lions would close the set out with 4 straight points including kills from Whitaker and
Chloe Burton.
To begin set two, on the first point, Junior Libero
Erin Androne would record her 1,000th career dig, Congratulations Erin! The Lions would build off the momentum of Androne's historic milestone and go on a 8-1 run to begin the set. The Lions would go on another run, this time a 9-1 run to close the set. The Lions' offense was powered by a pair of kills from Burton and Whitaker as they moved one set closer to a sweep.
In the third set, the Lions trailed early. But, a 4-0 run in the middle of the set gave the Lions a 11-10 lead.
Addie Conley and Riley Grove provided kills for The Mount. But, the Yellow Jackets would get back on top after a 4-0 run for themselves. After each team traded leads, the score stood 20-20 with the Lions knocking on the door of their 7th HCAC victory. To close the set, the Lions would go on a 5-0 run to complete the sweep. Kills from Conley and Burton led the Lions final push sweeping Defiance 3-0.
Morgan Whitaker was dominant for the Lions finishing with a team-high 10 kills while hitting .529.
Addie Conley was also impressive finishing with 7 kills while hitting .462. Outside Hitters
Brooke Aselage and
Ruthie Bingham were impressive despite playing just two sets. Each recorded 6 kills while hitting .294 and .500 respectively. Freshman
Chloe Burton added 4 kills while hitting .571 and recording 17 assists. Finally, Junior
Erin Androne added to her milestone recording a team-high 10 digs.
