Crawfordsville, Indiana—The Mount St. Joseph University Lions took to road, heading west. The first stop on the two part trip was at Wabash. This game featured two MVCL rivals, the Lions who are currently second in the standings and Wabash who carried a (2-7) overall record at the bottom of the conference. This match would give the Lions momentum at the beginning of their trip, winning in straight sets (27-25, 25-22, 25-18).
Set One: MSJ 27 Wabash 25
The first set of the evening was the best one, as both teams were highly competitive. The Lions would hold a 24-22 lead but two straight points by Wabash would force the set to continue. It was Jason Hascher who would finally win this set for the Lions, registering the final kill.
Set Two: MSJ 25 Wabash 22
In the second set of the evening the Lions were able to win a bit more comfortably. Despite an early 4-1 deficit scoring seven of the final points of the set.
Set Three: MSJ 25 Wabash 18
The biggest margin of victory came in the third set of the evening. The Lions would be in complete control of this entire set.
Notables:
•Jason Hascher recorded a team high 19 kills, this effort would push him over the 1,000
kill mark for his career.
•Rey Sanchez finished with 11 kills, 12 assists and 6 digs while hitting .474
With this win behind them, the team will use the day to travel further west, to St. Louis. This game will pit them against MVCL powerhouse, Fontbone.
