DEFIANCE, Ohio – On Saturday, February 19
th your Mount St. Joseph Lions men's and women's track and field team traveled up to Defiance College compete in the HCAC 2022 Indoor Track & Field Championship.
Beginning on the men's side the Lions got off to a good start. The Distance Medley Relay team consisting of 
Jacob Miller, 
Logan Runyan, 
Ty Richardson, and 
Chayce Helms set a new MSJ school record with a time of 11:38.73. This time was good for 7th overall in the race as the Lions look to build on the incredible performance. Freshman 
Kelvin Nkansah was also able to place for the Lions. Nkansah finished 3rd in the Men's Long Jump with a jump of 6.42m. Freshman 
Cameron Young set a personal best in the Shot Put event with a throw of 10.90m. Also, the Lions 4x400m relay team consisting of 
Chase Samples, 
Jacob Miller, 
Ty Richardson and 
Sean Stevie finished with a time of 3:40.90. This time was good for 6th overall in the event as the Lions day came to a close. 
For the women's side the Distance Medley Relay team found success just like the men's team. The DMR consisting of 
Jamie Lenart, 
Emily Salmons, 
Caitlin Biehle and 
Kayla Hess finished 5th overall with a time of 14:31.39. Freshman 
Hannah Keith got her first HCAC Championships started off right. Keith broke the school record in the 60m Dash with a time of 8.34s which was good for 8th in the event. Keith also raced in the 200m Dash and found success again. Keith finished with a time of 27.90s which was good for 7th place. Finally, 
Caitlin Biehle placed in her second event for the Lions on the day. Biehle finished 7th in the 800m Run with a time of 2:33.45.
UP NEXT: 
The Lions have concluded the Indoor track and field season and will begin to transition to the outdoor season. The Lions will start the outdoor season at home, as they host the Mount St. Joseph University Invitational.
