Hascher's 20 Kills Lead the Lions to Victory Over Adrian College

Cincinnati, Ohio—The Mount St. Joseph University Men's Volleyball program would host a MVCL Match against the Bulldogs of Adrian College.  Entering this game the Lions would carry a (7-8) overall record, while the Bulldogs held a (5-17) record.  In this match the Lions would dominate, winning in straight sets.  

Set One: MSJ 25  AC 23

In the first set of the evening the Lions would go back and forth.  As the Bulldogs would gain a 20-19 advantage, before the Lions would assemble a run, taking a 23-21 lead.  The Lions would surrender two straight points, before taking a set one win, in close fashion 25-23.  

Set Two: MSJ 25 AC 23

Entering the second set, with momentum the Lions would come out firing as Ben Carmosino would set up a Jason Hascher kill.  However following the first point, the Bulldogs would build a run, claiming a massive 7-2 lead.  As the set continued, Adrian would continue to build their lead, jumping to a 12-7 lead.  The Lions would crawl back into the set at the 20-17 mark and a Josh Kabel serve would tie the game at 21 all.  Kabel would continue to dominant serving the ball coming up with a service ace to jump ahead 23-21.  After a score by Adrian, Carmosino would come up with an easy kill, now 24-22.  A massive swing from Hascher would win the second set for the Mount 25-23.  

Set Three: MSJ 25 AC 19

In similar fashion to the start of set one, Adrian would jump ahead 3-1.  Despite the slow start the Lions took much less time to tie the game up, finding the set knotted up 3-3.  From this point the two teams were locked, neck and neck as they exchanged scores.  A service error by the Bulldogs  give the Lions momentum, going on a three point run to jump ahead 16-13.  Adrian would respond with a run of their own before another booming kill by Hascher.  However the back and forth action would resume as Adrian would go on to tie the game at 19-19.  The Mount would find themselves gaining control of the set at the right time as a Scott and Hascher would make a great defensive play, blocking an attack attempt by the Bulldogs, taking control of a 22-19 lead.  This series would allow the Lions to close out a 25-19 win.  

Notable Performances:

*Senior Jason Hascher led the team in kills, with 20 while hitting an impressive .441.

*Scott was phenomenal pouring on 8 kills while hitting .438.  

*Rey Sanchez did a little bit of everything in this match, finishing with 10 digs and 6 kills.  

Up Next:

Friday would serve as the first of a two game home-stand for the Mount.  On Saturday March, 19 the Lions will welcome the Comets of Olivet for another MVCL match.  This game is scheduled to start at 1PM and serves as Senior day for the program.  For continued coverage of this upcoming match and all other MSJ Athletics, continue to follow msjlions.com
