Cincinnati, Ohio – On Saturday, March 19th your Mount St. Joseph University men's and women's track and field teams competed on their home track against Thomas More University, Wittenberg, and Earlham. This was the first home outdoor track meet since 2019 during the HCAC Outdoor Conference Championship. The Men's team finished 4th while the women's squad came in second to begin the outdoor season.
On the Men's side, Senior
Chase Samples got the Lions started with a victory in the 400m Dash. Samples finished time 51.66s to claim victory for the Lions. Samples was also able to score points in the 200m Dash finishing 4th with a time of 24.42. Freshman
Ty Richardson ran a hard 800m timed at 2:10.13 finishing 6th. Sophomore
Chayce Helms competed in the 3000m and finished with a time of 10:27.73, good for 5th place. Sophomore Decklen Brophy opened up his season with a strong mark in Shot Put throwing 11.48m, good for 5th place. Brophy posted his best throw in the Javelin. Brophy reached a mark of 45.86m in Javelin, earning him 2nd place. Sophomore Matthew Breadis kicked off his season in the right way finishing 3rd in Discus with a throw of 39.64m.
Looking at the women's team, Freshman
Hannah Keith (Cincinnati, Ohio/ Anderson) was dominant for the Lions in both of her events. Keith began the day by taking the crown in the 100m Dash finishing 1st with a time of 13.75s. But, Keith wasn't done yet, securing another 1st place finish for the Lions. Keith finished 1st in the 200m Dash with a time of 28.03. Freshman
Victoria Barrett was also productive for the Lions finishing 4th in the 100m with a time of 14.28s. Senior
Emma Roth was solid in the 800m Run finishing 4th with a time of 2:41.19. Freshman
Avery Moehring started his season off on a good note running a 11:50.39 in the 3000m finishing 5th.
