HANOVER, Indiana - The Mount St. Joseph men's and women's track teams were on the road at the Hanover Invitational this weekend. The Men's team finished in third place overall while the women won their event.
On the women's side the Lions had a pair score points in the 100m dash,
Sydney Williams finished second for 8 points while
Olivia Forte finished fifth for two points. They would win the 4x100m relay as the team of
Ariel Riddle,
Emerson Pinger along with Forte and Williams finished in 51.55 to win the event.
Pinger and Riddle both also scored points in the 400m as Pinger finished second and Riddle third combining for 14 points. Williams, Forte, Pinger and Riddle all scored points in the 200m, Williams finished second, Forte was third, Pinger finished fourth and Riddle sixth.
In the field events
Josie Rigdon finished in a tie for second place in the pole vault earning 7 points.
Londyn Frazier finished fourth in the long jump, earning four points, she also finished second in the triple jump while Rigdon finished in third combining for 12 team points. Aunaleisa Newhard was the winner of the high jump event earning 10 points.
The Lions had a pair score in the hammer throw,
Asia Branch won the event clearing the next closest throw by more than two meters.
Olivia Naiman finished in fifth place for a further 2 points. Branch would also finish second in the discus throw adding 8 more points, Sienna Slaugher also earned points in the discus with a fifth place finish.
Sophie Rawlings won the shot put event with a mark of 11.60m, earning 10 points.
On the men's side
Christian Sumner and Matt Tumler finished third and fourth respectively in the 100m hurdles.
Diego Yun continued his outstanding start to the outdoor season, winning the 100m dash and the 400m hurdle event. He was also a part of the Lions winning 4x100 squad that included
Jalen Range,
Chris Barrow and
Ezekiel Thomas. In the 100m race Kyles Evers Smith also earned points with a sixth place finish.
Logan Wright finished third in the 1500m race to earn 6 points toward the team total. While
Alex Taft finished sixth in the 5000m run to earn 1 point.
Barrow would add four more points with a fourth place finish in the 400m run. Thomas finished fifth in the 200m dash to earn 2 more points.
In the field events, Tumler added 8 more points with a second place finish in the triple jump. While
Quamar Drinks added two points with a fifth place finish in the high jump.
Kaleb Fitzgerald finished third in the hammer throw to earn 6 points. While
Lleyton Flamm and
Dylan Hammons finished third and fourth in the javelin throw combining to add 10 more points to the team total.
