OXFORD, Ohio - The Mount St. Joseph men's and women's track and field team's opened their 2026 outdoor season with a trip to Oxford, Ohio for the Blizzard Buster hosted by Miami University.
The Men's team secured a 6th place finish in the event as a team and the women's finished in 11th place.
On the men's side
Alex Taft and
Henry Bowman both secured points in the 5000m race, Taft finished third and Bowman fourth to secure 11 points toward the team score.
In the 400m race
Ezekiel Thomas finished in ninth place to secure a single point toward the team total.
Two Lion secured points in the 400m hurdles,
Christian Sumner finihsed in fourth place for five points and Matt Tumler finished eighth for a single point.
In the field events
Kaleb Fitzgerald secured a point with a tenth place finish in the hammer throw.
Lleyton Flamm finished fourth in the javelin, earning five points toward the team total, while
Dylan Hammons added two with a seventh place finish. Skylar Hughes finished ninth in the discus, scoring two points.
In the triple jump,
D'san Ritchie finished fifth scoring four team points, while
Chris Barrow added one with an eighth place finish in the high jump.
On the women's side
Amanda Zerhusen got the scoring started with an eighth place finish in the 3000m, giving the team one point.
Sienna Slaughter added two point with a seventh place finish in the hammer throw and
Sophie Rawlings added another point with an eighth place finish in the shot put.
The final points for the women's team cane from
Madalyn Hudnall, who finished sixth in the javelin earning three points toward the team score.
