Justin Dreyling Dominates as the Lions Celebrate Senior Day

CINCINNATI, Ohio - On Saturday, April 23rd your Mount St. Joseph University track team celebrated Senior Day. The Mount honored all 7 seniors prior to kicking off the meet including, Chase Samples, John Schonauer, Sean Stevie, Haley West, Emma Roth, Caitlin Biehle and Emily Salmons. The Lions had a successful day including 3 event victories. 

For the men's team, Justin Dreyling was spectacular and put on a show. Dreyling captured the top spot in both Long Jump and Triple Jump. Dreyling tied his personal best and is leading the HCAC with a jump of 6.93M in the Long Jump and is 2nd in the HCAC with a Triple Jump of 13.87M. Dreyling also ran in the 100M Dash posting a personal best time of 11.62s earning 4th Place. Senior Chase Samples also had a successful day on the track. Samples captured the crown in the 200M Dash finishing 1st with a time of 22.96s. Junior Will Cissell also performed well earning a 3rd Place finish in the High Jump with a personal best jump of 1.75M. Finally, Sophomore Matthew Briedis had a solid day on the throwing field. Briedis captured 5th Place in Discus with a personal best mark of 42.56M. 

For the woimen's team, Freshman Hannah Keith shined. Keith captured 2nd Place in the 100M Dash with a personal best time of 13.50s. Keith also excelled in the 200M Dash finishing 3rd with a time of 27.62. Senior Haley West scored points in her final home meet finishing 4th in the 100M Hurdles with a time of 18.94s. Senior Emma Roth also scored on her final home meet finishing 5th in the 800M Run with a time of 2:31.12. Freshman Avery Moehring also found success on the track capturing 4th Place in the 5000M Run with a time of 21:50.69. Finally, Freshman Victoria Barrett also scored for the Lions in the 100M Dash. Barrett finished in 6th Place with a time of 14.21s. Barrett also competed in the 200M Dash finishing with a personal best time of 29.72s which was good for 9th Place. 

UP NEXT: Your Mount St. Joseph Lions will travel to Hanover College to compete at the HCAC Championships. The HCAC Championships will begin on Friday, April 29th and continue to Saturday, April 30th.
