HANOVER, Ind. - This weekend your Mount St. Joseph University Lions' Track and Field team competed at the HCAC Championships.
Justin Dreyling headlined the Lions earning the Men's Most Outstanding Jumps Athlete of the Year after an impressive campaign. The Mount had three athletes be named to All-HCAC Teams.
Justin Dreyling was named 1st Team All-HCAC in both the Triple Jump and Long Jump while
Chase Samples was named 2nd Team All-HCAC in the 400M Dash.
Hannah Keith was also named to the 2nd Team All-HCAC in the 400M Dash. The Mount placed in 16 different events between both the men's and women's teams.
On the men's side
Justin Dreyling was dominant. Dreyling finished the weekend with a pair of event wins. Dreyling won the Long Jump with a personal record jump of 7.06M. Dreyling also captured the crown in the Triple Jump with another personal record of 14.31M. Joining Dreyling in the Long Jump was
Kelvin Nkansah. Nkansah put together s olid performance finishing 5th with a jump of 6.37M. Dreyling also competed in the 4x100M Relay for the Lions. The relay consisted of
Kaleb Gelter,
Sean Stevie,
Justin Dreyling and
Chase Samples who all finished 7th with a time of 45.21s.Â
Chase Samples also ran in the 400M Dash and finished in 2nd place with a time of 49.39s.Â
The Lions also found success in the 4x400M Relay. Again, Samples joined
Jacob Miller,
Sean Stevie and
Logan Runyan in the relay and finished 8th with a time of 3:44.64.
Ty Richardson also added points with a 8th place finish in the 400M Hurdles with a time of 1:02.17.
Chayce Helms added to the Lions total with a 7th Place finish in Pole Vault with a mark of 2.60M.Â
The men's team also found success in the throwing events with a pair of 5th Place finishes.
Matthew Briedis earned 5th in Discus with a mark of 41.24M while
Decklan Brophy earned his 5th Place finish in Javelin with a mark of 43.30M.Â
On the women's side
Hannah Keith led the way as she secured 2nd Team All-HCAC honors with a 2nd Place finish in the 400M Dash with a time of 59.49s. Keith also provided in the 200M Dash as she finished in 6th Place with a time of 27.26s. Senior Haley Carrier was able to score points in her last HCAC meet finishing 6th in the 100M Hurdles with a time of 20.13s.
Kayla Hess also finished in 6th Place but in the 1500M Run. Hess finished with a time of 5:14.23 but she wasn't done yet. Hess also competed in the 4x400M Relay consisting of
Emma Roth,
Caitlin Biehle and
Emily Salmons. The relay finished with a time of 4:37.50 which was good for 8th Place. Both
Emma Roth and
Emily Salmons also finished 8th in their respective events. Roth finished the 800M Run with a time of 2:36.20 while Salmons finished with a time of 5:24.75 in the 1500M Run.Â
