CINCINNATI, Ohio - On Saturday, January 21st your Mount St. Joseph University Track and Field team hosted the MSJ Invite to begin the 2023 Indoor season. The Lions welcomed Thomas More, Xavier, Hanover, Wilmington, Franklin, Anderson and Spalding to the Centennial Fieldhouse for the first meet of the new season. The Lions started the season off strong with a pair of event winners and 13 more athletes scoring points.
For the men's team
Justin Dreyling and
Chase Samples led the way for the Lions. Dreyling coming off the heels of a historic outdoor season which saw him earn All-American honors and place 4th in Triple Jump, continued to impress. Dreyling finished 1st in Long Jump with a mark of 6.75M and finished 3rd in the 60M Dash with a time of 7.41s.
Chase Samples was also an event winner for The Mount. Samples claimed the top spot in the 400M Dash with a time of 52.44s.Â
Will Cissell,
Jacob Miller and
Alex Schmidt all also scored points for the Lions. Cissell impressed with a 3rd place finish in High Jump with a jump of 1.77M. Miller finished 5th in the 800M Run with a time of 2:07.51 while Schmidt finished 7th in the 3000M run with a time of 10:38.21.
For the women's team,
Ashley Klosterman led the charge for the Lions. Klosterman earned points in 3 separate events. Klosterman finished 3rd in the 60M Hurdles with a time of 10.75s and finished 3rd in Pole Vault with a mark of 1.80M. Klosterman also secured a 6th Place finish in the 200M Dash with a time of 29.13s. Freshman
Madalyn Hudnall shined in her Lions debut earning a 2nd place finish in Shot Put with a mark of 10.67M. Alongside Hudnall was fellow Freshman
Jill Wilheim who finished 5th in Shot Put with a mark of 10.19M.Â
Isabella Calhoun also scored points for the Lions with a 4th place finish in the 60M Hurdles. Calhoun finished with a time of 11.25s. Following right behind Calhoun was
Kaylyn Mullins who finished 5th in the 60M Hurdles with a time of 12.67s. Mullins scored points in a pair of events also finishing 5th in Pole Vault with a mark of 1.65M. Again, following behind Mullins was a fellow Lion and this time it was
Gabrielle Goerler. Goerler finished 6th in Pole vault with a mark of 1.50M.Â
