CINCINNATI, Ohio - Mount St. Joseph (2-0, 0-0 HCAC) returned home for the first time this season, after a opening week win on the road. This week they welcomed the Hiram Terriers (0-2, 0-0 NCAC) to Cincinnati and Schueler Field on Saturday. The Lions dominated the action from the opening kickoff enroute to a 62-21 victory.
The Mount opened the game on defense and quickly forced a 3-and-out to get the ball back to its high powered offense. The would gain a pair of first downs through the air before
Cornell Beachem Jr. scored from 35-yards out for his first rushing touchdown of the season.
On the next Hiram possession the Lions defense continued its early run off taking the ball away from the opposition. Saftey
Austin Price picked off a pass, his first of the season once again to get the offense a short field.
Josh Taylor would lead a 6-play 29 yard touchdown drive capped off by a 7-yard touchdown pass to
Gary Powell III, pushing the Lions out to a 14-0 lead.
The defense forced another three-and-out on the next Hiram series capped off by a third down sack by
Anthony Wright, again getting the ball back to the offense. The offense quickly moved down the field once again to score their third touchdown of the first quarter. This time it was Taylor finding his favorite receiver
Joey Newton along the back of the endzone from 5-yards out. That put the score at 21-0 and the Lions never looked back enroute to a 62-21 win.
The Lions starters played only early into the second-half before making way to backups.
