Saturday, against the Britons of Albion College, the Lions had the majority of possession with some great offensive pushes racking up 15 shots compared to Albion's 8 throughout the game.
Mary Anhofer was able to find the back of the net off of a beautiful corner kick from
Abby Cole in the first half, but it was unfortunately deemed offsides by the referee. Along with this,
Mary Litzinger also found the back of the net after the Lions picked the ball off of a Briton's pass at the 50-yard line and passed it to
Bailey Dotson who slotted a wonderful ball forward to
Mary Litzinger who hammered it in the back of the net. Once again, the referee called the play offsides, and the game ended in a 1-0 loss when the Britons hit a header into the goal off of a corner kick.
On Sunday, the Lions went on to play Adrian College which unfortunately ended in a 3-0 loss, but the Lions played some great soccer and had many awesome moments on the field. Mackenzie Schneeman almost hammered a free kick home, but it went just over the cross bar leaving everyone on the edge of their seat. Freshmen goalkeeper,
Megan Kallmeyer, also played the entirety of the game Sunday racking up some amazing saves. In the second half, Kallmeyer blocked a penalty kick in only her second match of the season showing some great goalkeeping skills.
