CINCINNATI, Ohio - The Mount St. Joseph men's basketball team moved to 3-2 in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference play with an 87-67 win over Bluffton at home on Wednesday.
The game was back and forth through the early going with Bluffton holding an early 11-10 advantage. But back-to-back three-pointers from
Willard Cluxton and
Jason Lavender put the Lions ahead 16-11 and they would not trail the rest of the game. After carrying a 40-27 lead into the break, Bluffton cut the lead to 10 on a couple of occasions but the Lions were able to stretch it back out each time.
The Lions got a huge performance from
Luke Collinsworth who scored a game-high 28 points on a 12-of-15 shooting night from the field, adding 9 rebounds. Lavender also had a huge impact making his first career start, he scored a career high 23 points while playing all 40 minutes for Coach Carrigan.
Dylan Hammonds also set a new career-high in the game pulling in 15 rebounds to go along with his 9 point effort.
