CINCINNATI, Ohio – On Wednesday night, the Mount St. Joseph men's soccer team hosted the Berea Mountaineers in their third HCAC match of the year.
Berea got on the board first with a 27
th minute own goal by the Lions, but the Mount responded almost immediately with a
Mohit Naphray penalty shot to even the score at one. From there, midfielder
Jeremiah Valentine would become the second Lions player to get on the score sheet. His goal gave the Mount the lead going into the half and ultimately was the decider.
The Lions came out of the break eager to add to their lead, and it was not long before they did exactly that. In the opening five minutes of the second half,
Eric Slavey would slot home another MSJ goal to move the score to 3-1. A second half brace from midfielder
Luis Martinez Velez brought the final score to a 5-1 victory in favor of the Mount.
UP NEXT: This win serves as the first in conference for the Lions this year. They will look to build on this electric offensive performance on Saturday at Earlham in another Heartland Conference match.
