Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

Women's Volleyball Goes 2-1 at Calvin

GRAND RAPIDS, Michigan - The Mount St. Joseph women's volleyball team headed north to Michigan this weekend, where they would take on Carroll, Kenyon and Calvin. They took a tough 5-set win on Friday night, and then split a pair of matches on Saturday. 

On Friday night they defeated Carroll in five, winning the first set 25-17. Carroll bounced back to win the next two sets and looked poised to secure the match in the fourth. The Lions pulled out a narrow 25-23 win in the fourth to send it to the decisive fifth set. In that winner-take-all fifth the Lions led 14-10, Carroll won three points in a row to get it to 14-13 but the Lions got a sideout to secure the win. 

Emma Sicking was fantastic in the win for the Lions with a season-high 22 kills and a .159 hitting percentage. Joining her with double-figure kills was Aubrey Miranda (12), she also hit .281. Jasmine Butler had a double-double with 47 assists and 11 digs. Grace Wilking led the way with 26 digs from the libero spot.

Match on Saturday would see the Lions square off with Kenyon. They would dominate the Owls in a straigh sets (25-12,25-15,25-19) win. Sicking, Miranda and Hannah Graves each had 10 kills in the match, with Miranda hitting an outstaing .450 in the match. Butler once again had a double-double with 35 assists and 10 digs. 

The final match of the weekend was against Calvin who just fell out of the top-25. The Knights would take the match in straight sets. 

UP NEXT:
The Lions will once again be on the road on Satuday, heading to take on the Fightin' Engineers of Rose-Hulman. The match is scheduled to get underway at 5:00 PM in Terre Haute, Ind.
