CINCINNATI, Ohio – On Wednesday, the UC Clermont men's soccer team came to Schueler Field to face the Mount St. Joseph Lions.
Brady Diedenhofer opened the scoring for the Mount just after the quarter-hour mark, where he was able to beat the keeper with his head coming off an assist from
Devin Trusty. Shortly after, there was a bit of uproar from the Mount St. Joe sideline when the Lions appeared to double their lead, but the referee did not award the goal.
In the 29
th minute however,
Willis Johnson converted from the penalty spot to give the Lions' their two-score cushion, and move his total to five goals on the season. The Lions were able to find the back of the net once more before the end of the half, as
Christopher Sanchez-Romero was able to extend the Mount's lead to three goals going into the break.
This game would prove to be a tale of two halves, as UC Clermont was able to steal a goal back just a few minutes into the second period. After conceding again and seeing their lead shrink to just one, the Lions defense would tighten up and quell UC Clermont's attempt at completing the comeback. This 3-2 victory is the first home win for the Lions this year, and it extends their unbeaten run to three games.
UP NEXT: The Lions are at home again this Saturday where they will face the Anderson University Ravens in an HCAC conference showdown.
