Lions Pick Up Road Victory to Move to 2-0

MARIETTA, Ohio – On Wednesday, the Mount St. Joseph women's basketball team was victorious on the road at Marietta moving their record to 2-0 to start the season.

The Lions got ahead early and stayed ahead, never once trailing in this game.  They were able to build up a 25-19 lead in the first quarter and never looked back.  By the halftime break MSJ had extended their lead to 15 points over the Pioneers, and they would go on to cruise to a dominant 83-69 win.

Coach Elston's team was red-hot from the floor all night; as a team they were able to hit 50/40/90 shooting splits.  They were led in scoring by Karlee Mills' 23 points, with Anyiah Murphy and Madison Drummonds also contributing 18 points apiece.  Drummonds was the anchor on the defensive end for the Lions, finishing with a game-high five blocks.

UP NEXT: The Lions will return home to the Harrington Center for the Lauren Hill Tip-Off Classic.  First, they will face Alma College on November 22nd, followed by a game versus Asbury University the next day.
