Cincinnati, Ohio – The Mount St. Joseph Women's Basketball team kicked off their season with a strong 57-48 victory over Wheaton College in their home opener.
The Lions wasted no time getting on the board, with
Karlee Mills scoring a quick layup off the opening tip. Mount St. Joseph capitalized on fast-break opportunities throughout the game, totaling 16 points off the break. Leading the charge offensively,
Anyiah Murphy paced the Lions with 13 points, while
Morgan Jenkins followed with 10.
Coach Elston kept the team fresh with frequent substitutions, rotating 13 players in and out of the game. The Lions also showcased their dominance in the paint, with both teams contributing 28 points under the basket.
It was a promising start to the season for the Lions, who look to build on this momentum as the season progresses.
