MSJ Track & Field Athletes with 17 Personal Best Performances at Mike Becraft Invitational

Ada, Ohio – Over the weekend, the Lions Track & Field team traveled to Ohio Northern University to compete in the Mike Becraft Invitational on April 19th and 20th.  The men's team placed 8th overall, and the women's team placed 7th place. Along with this, the Lions secured 17 personal best performances over the weekend which was extremely impressive.

Looking at top 8 performances over the weekend, the Lions landed 10 performances in that range in between both the men's and women's' teams. Madalyn Hudnall had a very impressive weekend placing 1st in the javelin throw with a personal best performance 38.76M. Hudnall also placed 3rd in shot put with a distance of 11.83M. Along with this, Jill Wilhelm also placed 4th in the javelin throw with a throw of 34.68M. In the guys throwing events, Jack Tucker placed 4th in the hammer throw with a best throw of 49.19M,  and Dylan Sebastian placed 6th in the javelin throw with a final throw of 42.45M. 

Moving along to the running events, Grace Kruthaupt placed 3rd in the 200-meter dash and 3rd in the 100-meter hurdles with times of 27.85 seconds and 16.22 seconds. Saien Wright was another top performer in the 110M hurdles for MSJ placing 4th with a final time of 16.28 seconds. And last but not least, Anna Packer placed 5th in the 800-meter run with a personal best time of 2:33.82, and Julia Gooding placed 7th with a time of 2:35.38. 

Along with top 8 performances, the Lions had many athletes with personal best performances in their events over the weekend. For the women's team, Sienna Slaughter had best throws in both the discus and javelin with marks of 28.54M and 25.06M. Al Smith also had a personal best performance in a throwing event with a best throw of 38.68M in the hammer throw. In sprinting events, Dylan Hammons and Caleb Bush both had best times in the 100 and 200-meter dash. Dylan Wilson and Jonny Volk also had best times in the 200-meter dash with times of 24.57 and 24.79 seconds. Zach McKenna had a personal best in the 400-meter dash with an impressive time of 53.35 seconds, as well. In the distance races, Alex Taft had a great weekend with PRs in both the 1500 and 5000 with final times of 4:19.09 and 16:28.84. Alex Schmidt also showed out in the 1500-meter run with a best time of 4:25.94, and Mitchell Reveal had a best time of 19:12.08 in the 5000. 

UP NEXT: The Lions are back in action April 26th and 27th for the HCAC Outdoor Championships which are being hosted by Manchester. The meet will get underway at 3 p.m. on Friday and continue with the remainder of the events on Saturday. You can keep up to date with results at msjlions.com.
