Delaware, Ohio – On Saturday, April 6
th, the Mount St. Joseph University Track & Field team traveled to Ohio Wesleyan University to compete in the Marv Frye Invitational. The Lions were able to land 9 athletes in top 8 standing. Along with this, the team also had 15 personal best performances, 4 of which were in that top 8 placing group.
Starting with the women's team,
Grace Kruthaupt kicked off the day with an impressive personal best performance of 13.42 seconds in the 100-meter dash landing her in 3
rd place overall. Along with this, in the throwing events,
Madalyn Hudnall had a 1
st place finish in the javelin throw with a distance of 37.37 M.
Jill Wilhelm kept the Lion's showing in the javelin strong with a throw of 35.09 M landing her in 2
nd place. And lastly,
Asia Branch threw 33.63 M in discus which put her in 7
th place overall.
Moving right along to the men's team,
Alex Taft represented the distance team well with a personal best performance in the 5000-meter run of 16:29.03. Taft also placed 4
th in 5000-meter run racking up some points for the Lions.
Saien Wright also added some points on the day securing a 5
th spot in the 110-meter hurdles with a personal best time of 15.84 seconds.
Alex Schmidt, who recently broke the steeple chase record at MSJ, secured a 1
st place finish in the 3000-meter steeple chase with a personal best time of 10:25.31. In the hammer throw,
Jack Tucker secured an 8
th place finish with a throw of 46.13 M, and, in the javelin throw,
Dylan Sebastian placed 7
th with a distance of 42.76 M.
Along with the aforementioned 4 personal best performances, the Lions racked up 11 more personal records (PR) on the day. First off,
Grace Holtmeier racked up 2 personal best times in the 100-meter dash and 200-meter dash with times of 14.17 seconds and 29.07 seconds.
Grace Kruthaupt also had an impressive showing in the 200-meter dash with a personal record of 27.85 seconds. Looking at mid-distance events,
Emma Damewood and
Katherine Alvarez had PRs in the 800-meter run with times of 3:14.33 and 3:46.16.
Sienna Slaughter was also able to get a PR in the hammer throw hitting a mark of 37.51 M.
Kyle Evers Smith secured PRs in two events including the 100 and 200-meter dash. Evers Smith's times were 11.20 seconds in the 100 and 23.01 seconds in the 200. Sticking with the 200-meter dash, Andre Wright also had a personal best with a final time of 24.17 seconds.
Zach McKenna ran the 400 and finished in 53.40 seconds which was another PR for the day. And last but not least,
Jacob Elza ran a 2:07.59 in the 800-meter run which was a PR for him, as well.
UP NEXT: The Lions will be competing next on Saturday, April 13
