CIRCLEVILLE, Ohio – On Wednesday, the Mount St. Joseph men's soccer team went on the road to face the Trailblazers of Ohio Christian. The first half was a bit of a feeling out process with both teams generating chances, but neither team being able to convert those scoring opportunities into goals.
The hosts would be the ones to open the scoring shortly after the break; however, the Lions would respond very quickly. MSJ was able to draw a penalty kick, and, less than five minutes after giving up the goal,
Mohit Naphray evened the game back up at one goal apiece. In the 71
st minute,
Brady Diedenhofer would find the back of the net off an assist from
Nathaniel Knuth. This goal would be the decider for the Lions and would propel them to a 2-1 victory, their first of the season.
This also marks the inaugural win of head coach
Anthony Clark's career at the Mount. Coach Clark and his squad will look to build on this victory and continue with positive momentum into HCAC conference play.
UP NEXT: The Lions return home to Schueler Field this Saturday, as they will take on Manchester University in their first conference game.
