Lions Secure Scoreless Draw to Open Conference Play

CINCINNATI, Ohio – Over the weekend the Mount St. Joseph men's soccer team hosted Manchester University in their first game of HCAC play.

Both teams struggled to get their attack going in the rainy conditions, but MSJ was very sound defensively all game. They were able to limit Manchester to just two total shots in the entire contest. Ultimately, neither team was able to find the back of the net, and the match would go on end with both teams still knotted at 0.

The Lions back line was anchored by Devin Trusty, Nathaniel Knuth, and team captain Michael Smith each of whom played the entire 90 minutes.  These three were integral in helping goalkeeper, Aaron Smith, record his first clean sheet of the season and securing the 0-0 draw for the Mount.

UP NEXT: The Lions were entering this game against Manchester coming off a 2-1 road victory at Ohio Christian, so this tie puts them on a two-match unbeaten run.  They will play at home again on Wednesday where they are set to host UC-Clermont and attempt to keep their streak alive.
