CINCINNATI, Ohio - The Mount St. Joseph track and field program hosted its third indoor track and field meet of the season on Saturday. On the men's side the Lions finished in fourth place with a team total of 66 points and the women' finished in sixth with 40 points.
MSJ WOMEN'S RESULTS
- The Lions scored 10 points in the 800m run as sophomore Anna Packer finished second in the race with a time of 2:33.44, the second place finish scored eight points toward the team total and is the third best time in the HCAC this season. Julia Gooding also scored points toward the team score with a sixth place finish and a time of 2:41.51, scoring two points
- In the mile run it was freshman Amanda Zerhusen adding to the team total, with a 5:44.07 which was good for fourth place and five team points. Her mark is good for sixth best in the HCAC thus far this season.Â
- The team of Gooding, Packer, Zerhusen and Sicilia Eshman finished sixth in the 4x400 relay, scoring a further four points toward the team total.
- In the field events it was London Frazier scoring points in both the long and triple jumps. In the long jump she finished third with a 4.27m mark, picking up 6 points. In the triple jump she finished fifth with an 8.92m mark, adding four more points for the team.
- Madalyn Hudnall finished third in the shot put with a 11.17m toss, which gave the Lions six more points. She also finished fifth in the weight throw (12.88m) rounding out the Lions scoring with four more points. Her weight throw performance is the fourth best mark in the league during this indoor season.Â
- All told the women' finished with 40 points, good for sixth best in the event as a team.Â
MSJ MEN'S RESULTS
- In the men's 60m dash the Mount had a trio of athletes qualify for the finals and score points toward the team score. Kendrick Sherrer ran a career-best 6.97 which is good for the best time in the HCAC this season. Sherrer finished second and earned the Lions six points. Diego Yun finished third with a season-best 7.05 mark, earning six points. Jalen Range rounded out the Lions in the finals, finishing in fifth with a 7.14 and earning four points.Â
- in the 200m dash the Lions put together the best two marks in the HCAC this season. Kyle Evers Smith won the event with a 22.34 scoring ten points. Sherrer had another outstanding performance with a 22.68 and earned eight points. Those two times sit atop the HCAC so far this indoor season.
- In the 400m dash, Chris Barrow finished fifth with a 54.46 scoring four points, and Zach McKenna finished in seventh with a 55.04 earning two points.
- Jacob Miller scored the team four more points in the mile run, finishing in fifth place with a 4:45.81.
- The relay team of Barrow, Evers Smith, Range and Yun finished second in the 4x200. Their 1:31.87 is the best time in the HCAC, clearing the previous high by nearly six seconds. The performance added eight points to the team total.Â
- In the distance medley the team of Miller, McKenna, Mitch Reveal and Alex Schmidt finished in third place with an 11:49.30 scoring six points.Â
- Barrow added points to the team score in the high jump, clearing 1.83m finishing in fifth place for an additional four points.
- Dylan Hammons finished in eighth place in the long jump, scoring two points for the team.
- The Lions finished in fourth place in the event with a team total of 66 points.Â
UP NEXT
The Lions will have a couple of weeks off before hitting the road on February 8. That day they will head to the Anderson Invitational hosted by Anderson University. The Lions have just two more events to get ready for the HCAC Indoor Conference Championships, also hosted by Anderson on March 1st.Â
