Cincinnati, Ohio – The Mount St. Joseph women's basketball team faced off against the Bluffton Beavers in an intense HCAC battle on Wednesday night. Despite a hard-fought effort, the Lions fell just short in overtime, losing 68-66.
Junior Morgan Jenkins led the Lions offensively with 19 points, while Karlee Mills added an impressive 18, including the clutch game-tying shot at the end of regulation to force overtime. The Lions showed grit on the boards, grabbing 40 total rebounds, including 11 on the offensive end, and attempted 70 field goals throughout the game.
Defensively, Jenkins and Hailey Guingrich, each, recorded two critical blocks to keep the Lions in contention. However, Bluffton's Rachel Clark proved to be a difference-maker, finishing the game with 25 points to lead the Beavers to victory.
Next Up: The Lions will host the Anderson University Ravens on Saturday, January 25th, at 4 PM in a doubleheader with the men's basketball team.
