CINCINNATI, OHIO — The Mount St. Joseph University men's soccer team was defeated by Transylvania University, 5–0, at Schueler Field on Wednesday evening.
The first half was a back-and-forth affair, with both teams creating opportunities to score. In the 5th minute, Brennan Lewis had a breakaway chance that nearly resulted in a goal, but the Pioneers' goalkeeper made an outstanding save. With less than two minutes remaining in the half, Transylvania found the back of the net and went into halftime with a 1–0 lead.
The beginning of the second half was tightly contested, with both teams limiting each other's scoring opportunities. In the 76th minute, the Pioneers scored to take a 2–0 lead. Transylvania added goals in the 80th, 85th, and 89th minutes to secure a 5–0 victory.
