CINCINNATI, Ohio - The Mount St. Joseph men's volleyball team defeated Adrian in straight sets on Friday night to get their first MCVL win of the season.
The Lions won the straight sets match, but each set was decided by only two points. In the first set they led 24-22, but a pair of Adrian points forced the match past the regular 25 point threshold. The Mount got back-to-back kills from
Carson Reed and
Roger Wilcox to secure the first set.
In the second set the Adrian led by as many as six midway through the set. The Mount came all the way ack to take a one-point lead at 20-19. They would outscore Adrian 5-3 the rest of the way to secure the set win.
The third set was once again tight with neither squad leading by more than two at any point. Adrian had their first set point of the match at 26-25 but the Mount won three straight points to secure the match.
Ryan Bollhauer led the way with 15 kills in the match and hit .313. The senior middle also had four solo blocks in the match.
Carson Reed was the only other Lion in double-figures with 11 kills. Senior setter
Ben Carmosino dished out 32 assists and added 5 kills while hitting .714.
