CARMEL, Indiana - The Mount St. Joseph baseball team saw five of its players appear on the the 2025 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference's all-league teams announced today. The Lions had a pair of first-team performers, a pair of second-team performers and an honorable mention selection. This recognition comes after the team put together a 26-17 overall record and a 12-10 record in league play, appearing in the HCAC tournament for the second consecutive season.
Appearing on the first team were a pair of seniors, in
Anton Mere and
Jake Sanders both making the team as outfielders. Sanders was the Lions most effective offensive player this season, with a team-high .384 average, he also led the team with 15 doubles, 48 RBIs and a .642 slugging percentage. He also added 3 triples, 6 homeruns, 18 walks and 6 stolen bases. Mere is a first-team selection for the second consecutive year, for th e year he hit .356, with 13 doubles, 2 triples, 30 RBIs, a .452 slugging percentage, 23 walks and 32 stolen bases.Â
Joining the Lions two first teamers were
Brennan Martin and
Nolan Miller who appeared on the second team. Martin the team's primary first baseman hit a team-high 9 homeruns, while driving in 47 runs, while finishing second on the team with 30 walks. Miller was the Lions top starting pitcher for much of the season, finishing the season with an HCAC record of 3-1 despite going against the opposing team's #1 starter most of the time. He finished with a conference ERA of 4.89 across 38.2 innings, he struck out 36 while holding opponents to a .271 batting average. This is the first all-HCAC selection for both Martin and Miller.
Rounding out the Lions selections was senior reliever
Ryan Caulfield who was named honorable mention all-league. Caulfield appeared in 10 of the Lions 22 conference games, including starting 3 games as an opener. He finished with two saves in league play and a 2.38 ERA.Â
