Box Score KOKOMO, Indiana - The Mount St. Joseph baseball team took on Rose-Hulman in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference tournament on Friday. The Lions got ahead early and got some fantastic relief pitching to secure the 9-5.
The Lions sent
Jackson Bucks to the mound to start the game the sophomore right hander threw the front 5.1 innings to get the win.
The Lions got the scoring started in the bottom of the first inning,
Jordan Harley beat out an infield single and
Andrew Harrison followed with a basehit.
Jake Sanders continued his unbelievable tournament with a two-run triple into right center and
Brennan Martin grounded out to drive in the third run of the inning,
Rose answered with one in the top of the second and two in the third to tie the game at three. The Lions took the lead back immediately in the bottom of the inning. Once again it was Harley getting it started with a one-out single. After advancing on an error and stealing third he would score on a Sanders sacrifice fly.
The Lions added two more in the fourth and three in the fifth to take control of the game. Rose scored twice in the top of the sixth and chased Bucks from the game. The Lions then turned the ball over to
Carson Taulbee and the sophomore right-hander was magnificent. He pitched the final 3.2 innings of two hit, shutout ball while striking out eight and earning his first career save.

The Lions will have a short break and come back to play again tonight, they will take on the #4 seed the Transylvania Pioneers for the second time in the tournament at 7:45 PM.
