Lions Battle Back Twice to Earn 2-2 Draw in Season Opener Against Wilmington

CINCINNATI, OHIO – The Mount St. Joseph University men's soccer team kicked off their season Friday night at Schueler Field with a thrilling 2-2 draw against the Wilmington Quakers.

The Quakers struck early, finding the back of the net in just the second minute to take a quick 1-0 lead. The Lions responded after halftime, as Brennan Lewis netted his first career goal for the Mount in the early stages of the second half. Andres Barrera provided the assist on the equalizer.

Wilmington regained the lead in the 75th minute, but the Lions answered just five minutes later. Aidan Sweeney scored his first goal as a Lion off a corner kick, leveling the match at 2-2. Mohit Naphray assisted the set piece goal.

Up Next: The Lions return to action at home on Sunday, August 31st, when they host the Wittenberg Tigers at Schueler Field. Kickoff is scheduled for 5:00 P.M.
