Lions Fight Hard but Spalding Pulls Away Late in 4-2 Loss

CINCINNATI, Ohio — September 13, 2025 — The Mount St. Joseph men's soccer team twice clawed back from deficits against Spalding on Saturday afternoon, but two late goals from the visitors proved decisive in a 4-2 setback at Schueler Field.

Spalding struck first in the 24th minute before adding another just before halftime. The Lions, though, showed their fight. Andre Wright pulled one back in the 44th minute, finishing a setup from Nathaniel Knuth to make it 2-1 at the break.

MSJ carried that momentum into the second half. In the 60th minute, Collin Schneeman buried an unbelievable goal to level the match, sending a surge of energy through the home crowd. For a moment, the Lions had Spalding on their heels.

But the visitors answered quickly, regaining the lead in the 68th minute and sealing it with another strike in the closing stages.

Though the scoreboard didn't tilt their way, the Lions' effort was undeniable. From Wright's first-half spark to Schneeman's second-half finish, MSJ proved it can battle back — now the challenge is turning that resilience into results.
