Lions Fall to Transylvania at Home

CINCINNATI, Ohio — In a Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference matchup played before a spirited Harrington Center crowd, the Mount St. Joseph women's basketball team battled Transylvania University but ultimately fell 66–50.

The contest was closely contested early, with MSJ and Transylvania trading baskets as both teams fought to establish momentum. Mount St. Joseph stayed within striking distance through the first half thanks to balanced scoring and disciplined ball movement.

As the second half unfolded, Transylvania began to pull away, using efficient offense and physical play to create separation. The Pioneers' pressure on both ends of the floor limited MSJ's opportunities, and they were able to convert key possessions into points that built their lead. Despite the Lions' efforts to respond, including timely plays from Morgan Jenkins and Sam Price, Transylvania maintained control down the stretch.

Sam Price led the Lions in scoring with 14 points, anchoring MSJ's offensive output. Jenkins added 13 points and contributed on both ends, while Karlee Mills finished with seven points in the contest. Bella Crawford chipped in with six, and Ella Stivers provided additional scoring support.

Defensively, MSJ worked hard to contest shots and limit easy looks, but Transylvania's balanced attack and ability to convert from the field kept the visitors ahead. The Pioneers outpaced the Lions in scoring across multiple quarters, making it difficult for Mount St. Joseph to mount a late comeback.
