Men Finish First, Women Second in Last Roar Event

CINCINNATI, Ohio – In their final tune-up before the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Indoor Championships, the Mount St. Joseph men's and women's track and field teams delivered outstanding performances, with the men claiming the team title and the women finishing a narrow second. The Lions' men's team finished 26 points ahead of second-place Hanover, while the women's team came up just one point shy of Berea in a tightly contested meet.

As part of the final indoor meet of the regular season, Mount St. Joseph also recognized its 2026 senior class: Kyle Evers Smith, Jalen Range, Sienna Slaughter, Mitch Reveal, Dylan Hammons, Madalyn Hudnall, Londyn Frazier, and Lleyton Flamm.

The men opened the meet strong with Henry Bowman earning 10 points in the 5000m run. In the sprint events, Diego Yun turned in an impressive showing, placing fourth in the 60m dash before winning the 200m in a time of 22.26. The Lions added additional points in the 200m as Ezekiel Thomas finished third in 23.22 and Fred Fleming placed sixth in 23.91.

Christian Sumner led the way in the 400m, finishing fourth in 55.14, just ahead of teammate Dylan Hammons, who placed fifth in 55.61. In the 800m, Alex Taft and Logan Wright finished fifth and sixth, respectively, separated by just half a second.

Mount St. Joseph continued to excel in the field events. Chris Barrow placed fifth in the high jump with a clearance of 1.85m and added a seventh-place finish in the long jump at 6.14m. Kamren McFayden finished third in the long jump with a leap of 6.47m and followed with a runner-up finish in the triple jump at 13.12m. D'San Ritchie captured the event title in the triple jump with a mark of 13.16m.

In the throws, Bryan McCutcheon led a strong showing in the shot put with a third-place finish, while Elijah Ludd (fifth), Clayton Bennett (seventh), and Zach Rolfes (eighth) all scored points. Skyler Hughes claimed the event title in the weight throw, with Kaleb Fitzgerald finishing third and Dalton Armstrong placing tenth.

On the women's side, Sydney Williams led the way in the sprints, winning the 60m dash in 8.20 seconds. Olivia Forte added a third-place finish in the 200m, while Emerson Pinger finished second and Ariel Riddle placed fourth in the 400m.

In the distance events, Sicilia Eschman placed third in the 800m. Amanda Zerhusen continued her dominant season by winning both the mile and the 3000m, adding crucial points to the team total.

The Lions also found success in the field events, highlighted by Josie Rigdon's victory in the pole vault. Senior Londyn Frazier placed eighth in the long jump with a mark of 4.34m and added a third-place finish in the triple jump.

Mount St. Joseph's throwers continued their strong performances, with Madalyn Hudnall leading the way with a second-place finish in the shot put, followed by Sophie Rawlings in third. Asia Branch placed eighth and Sienna Slaughter finished ninth. In the weight throw, Slaughter and Branch finished second and third, respectively, while Rawlings also secured a top-10 finish.

Mount St. Joseph will host the 2026 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships next Saturday at the Centennial Fieldhouse. The meet is scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m.
