CINCINNATI, Ohio — The Mount St. Joseph women's basketball team rolled to a convincing 81–51 victory over Earlham College on Saturday afternoon, showcasing offensive firepower and defensive intensity in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference action.
Prior to the game the Lions celebrated senior day, honoring Karlee Mills, Morgan Jenkins and Hailey Guingrich for their contributions to the MSJ women's basketball program.
MSJ jumped out quickly, racing to a double-digit lead by halftime and setting the tone with efficient shooting and active defense. The Lions continued to dominate after the break, extending their advantage with balanced scoring and tough rebounding that kept Earlham at bay throughout the second half.
Karlee Mills led the Lions offensively, contributing 25 points on the day. Her ability to score in multiple ways helped sustain MSJ's momentum as the team pushed the pace and opened up a comfortable lead early in the game.
Supporting Mills, Ali Winchester added 15 points with solid play off the bench, injecting energy and timely baskets that kept the Lions ahead. Sam Price also contributed with 10 points and a presence inside that helped MSJ control the paint on both ends of the floor.
In addition to the scoring, MSJ showcased strong rebounding and ball movement, creating transition opportunities and converting them into points. The Lions' defense pressured Earlham into turnovers and limited second-chance opportunities, allowing MSJ to maintain control for all four quarters.
By the final buzzer, the Lions had cruised to a 30-point victory, moving them up the HCAC standings into a third-place tie with Anderson.
UP NEXT: The Lions will be home on Wednesday night, welcoming the Rose-Hulman Fightin' Engineers into the Harrington Center! That game is scheduled to tip-off at 7:00 PM.
