CINCINNATI, Ohio — The Mount St. Joseph University men's volleyball team battled through a pair of conference matches over the weekend, facing Baldwin Wallace on Friday before returning to the court Saturday against Mount Union.
MATCH ONE: MSJ 0 – BALDWIN WALLACE 3 (15-25, 17-25, 15-25)
The Lions opened the weekend with a straight-set loss to Baldwin Wallace on Friday night. Mount St. Joseph fought to find an offensive rhythm throughout the match, but Baldwin Wallace maintained control in each set to secure the sweep.
MATCH TWO: MSJ 1 – MOUNT UNION 3 (16-25, 25-23, 21-25, 23-25)
Mount St. Joseph responded with a more competitive showing on Saturday, pushing Mount Union in a four-set battle. After dropping the opening set, the Lions rallied in the second, edging out a 25-23 win to even the match. The third and fourth sets remained tightly contested, with MSJ staying within striking distance late in both frames. Despite the effort, Mount Union closed out the match with 25-21 and 25-23 set victories.
Sophomore
Carson Reed led the Lions with a double-double, recording 13 kills and 13 digs. Senior
Jude Lewis also contributed a double-double effort with 12 kills and 11 digs, while adding three service aces. Junior
Roger Wilcox added 10 kills on an efficient 21 attempts, providing a strong presence on the attack.
Sophomore
Brayden Bass orchestrated the offense with 33 assists and chipped in seven digs, while freshman
Will Croft contributed 10 assists and two service aces in a supporting role.
UP NEXT: The Lions return to action Thursday, April 2, at 7:00 p.m. on the road against Wabash College in Crawfordsville, Indiana.
