CINCINNATI, OHIO — The Mount St. Joseph University men's soccer team tied Capital University, 2-2, Tuesday evening at Schueler Field, bringing its record to 3-0-2.

The first half was a back-and-forth, physical battle, with both teams playing aggressively. The Mount defense played very well, allowing Capital to record only two shots and one corner kick in the half. In the 43rd minute, the Lions broke the tie on a powerful kick from Aidan Sweeney that deflected off a Comet player and into the back of the net. The Mount would head into halftime leading 1-0.

Capital would score less than 10 minutes into the second half, tying the match at 1-1. Just over 12 minutes later, the Comets added another goal, giving them a 2-1 advantage. The Lions had a few chances to equalize and, with less than four minutes remaining, broke through to tie the match at 2-2 when Andres Barrera found the back of the net off a pass from JT Roden. In the final minutes, the defense held strong to help the Mount secure the 2-2 draw.

UP NEXT: The Mount will travel to Wilmington, Ohio, where they will take on Wilmington College on Saturday, September 19. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
