WILMORE, KENTUCKY— The Mount St. Joseph University men's soccer team defeated Asbury University, 1-0, Friday night at Gray Outdoor Venue, improving its record to 2-0.

The Mount needed just over a minute to take a 1-0 advantage. JT Roden got past the goalkeeper and found the back of the net, scoring his first career goal in a Lions uniform.

The defense was strong in the first half, allowing just three shots. Carson Sabers made two saves to help the Lions take a 1-0 lead into halftime.

In the second half, the Mount's defense held onto the lead to secure the 1-0 victory. Asbury had limited opportunities, as the defense continued to play outstanding with the lead, holding the Eagles to four shots. Sabers made three saves in the second half. The Lions allowed just three corner kicks throughout the entire match.

UP NEXT: The Mount will travel to Springfield, Ohio, where they will take on Wittenberg University on Sunday, September 6. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.
