Lions end season with second straight loss; falling by a 19-0 score to Thomas More College in the Bridge Bowl

The Mount was held to 80 yards of offense, and host Thomas More College rolled up 234 yards rushing and 454 yards in all, as the Lions completed 2008 season play with a 19-0 loss to the Saints today in the annual Bridge Bowl game. The Mount ends the season with a 5-5 mark while Thomas More goes to 8-2 en route to a NCAA Division III Playoff appearance.

The Lions had trouble getting their offense untracked today against the Saints, as they saw all six of their first half possessions end a variety of ways, including a missed 33-yard field goal on their first drive. Thomas More capitalized on their first drive, connecting on a 24-yard field goal, and forced a safety to open the second quarter, grabbing a 5-0 lead in the game. Just under two minutes later the Saints upped their advantage to 12-0 when they scored on a 14-yard TD pass play. Thomas More completed the scoring during the day's play when they scored on a three-yard rushing play with 3:48 left in the third quarter.

The Mount ended five of their six second half possessions by punting, with four of those drives coming on three-and-out series. Jake Davis (CIncinnati, OH/Anderson) led the Mount with 42 yards rushing while Vince Palmer (Cincinnati, OH/Anderson) was 10-for-23 passing for 70 yards. Erik Prosser (Cincinnati, OH/Oak HIlls) had a game-high 14 tackles while Nick Yahl (St. Mary's, OH/Memorial) chipped in nine tackles.
