Davis got the Lions on the scoreboard with 13:04 to play in the second quarter when he rushed in from one yard out. Joe Vortkamp (Cincinnati, OH/Anderson) added the PAT kick for the Mount. Wilmington, however, would tie the game at 7-all just over two minutes later when quarterback Billy Blackburn hooked up with Jeremy Stuckey on a 13-yard TD pass.

Mount quarterback Vince Palmer (Cincinnati, OH/Anderson) put the Lions ahead with just 35 seconds remaining in the first half when he teamed with Tim Meiner (Hamilton, OH/Talawanda) on an 11-yard pass play. Vortkamp kicked the PAT again and the Lions took a 14-7 lead into the locker room.

Neither team was able to generate much offense in the second half, before Davis scored on a four-yard run with 6:19 to play in the game, capping a 14-play, 87-yard, drive that took 5:25 off the clock. Vortkamp added his third PAT of the game for a 21-7 Mount advantage.
