Mount men's basketball team falls at Division I Ball State University, 95-43

Box Score

Division I Ball State University bolted out to a 43-18 lead at the break, thanks to out-shooting the Mount 52 to 26 percent in the first 20 minutes of action, and rolled to a 95-43 home win tonight over the Lions. The Mount, 2-9 overall, returns to action on Jan. 5 when they host HCAC-foe Earlham College.

The Lions struggled with their shooting in the first half, connecting on only two-of-14 shots from behind the three-point arc, as Ball State raced out to a 10-0 start and held their largest lead of the opening half, 43-31, with 1:14 to play. Ball State was also 14-of-20 from the free throw line in the first half to the Lions' two-of-five from the charity stripe.

The second half results were much like the first half as the Lions could never cut into the Cardinals huge lead. Ball State finished the game shooting 59 percent while the Mount was successful on only 25 percent of their shots from the field, including three-of-28 from long range. Ball State also controlled the boards, recording a 51-24 margin. The Cardinals put five players in double figures.

Alex Cole (Fairfield, OH/Ross) led the Mount with 12 points and five rebounds while Matt Wester (Dayton, OH/Dayton Christian) chipped in nine points and five boards.
