Mount women's basketball team loses home game to Rose-Hulman, 66-52

Visiting Rose-Hulman held a distinct advantage in three-point field goals made and free throws made today as they upended the Mount, 66-52. The Lions fell to 3-11 overall, 3-5 in the HCAC. They resume action on Jan. 19 when they host HCAC-foe Franklin College.

The Fightin' Engineers, who led by a 27-24 margin at the half, pushed their lead to double digits, 50-40 with 6:42 to play in the game, thanks to solid outside shooting and scoring opportunities from the free throw line. Rose-Hulman out-shot the Lions from three-point arc, hitting six-of-12 to the Mount's two-of-16 from long range. The Mount also was four-of-six from the free throw line to Rose's 20-of-24. The Mount did knock the deficit down to 51-45 with 4:22 left in the game, but could get no closer as Rose-Hulman finished the game on a 15-7 run.

Katie Jo Collins (Cincinnati, OH/Mercy) led the Lions with 11 points and eight rebounds while teammate Brittany Sparks (Solsberry, IN/Eastern Greene) tossed in 10 points.
